CPedal the Plains checkolorado’s 4-H youth, staff and friends made a strong showing September 15-17 at the 2017 Pedal the Plains cycling tour. This year’s route took riders across Colorado’s Eastern Plains and through Kersey, Kennesburg and Brush. Nearly 20 cyclists rode on the 4-H team, and 4-H club members staffed rider aid stations along the 177-mile route.

Now in its sixth year, Pedal the Plains was conceived when Colorado Governor Hickenlooper and former Denver Post publisher and longtime 4-H Supporter Dean Singleton discussed a way to highlight the communities of Colorado’s Eastern Plains. The initiative helps fund nonprofit organizations in the tour’s host communities that provide services for youth through programs related to recreation and/or youth education.

Colorado’s 4-H program is one of the nonprofit organizations supported by the event, and received a check for $7,000 this year. The grant will support programs, scholarships and volunteer development for Weld and Morgan County 4-H extension.
